Zanzibar Sport Fishing – Private 30ft Boat from Michamvi
Fish the blue waters off Zanzibar’s quieter southeast coast aboard a privately chartered 30ft Citation 900 sport fisher.
Departing Michamvi Pingwe, trips explore reefs, drop-offs and the fishing grounds towards the Kizimkazi patch.
The waters are known for yellowfin tuna, wahoo, king mackerel, dorado, giant trevally and other trevally species, with billfish also passing through the Zanzibar Channel. Sightings and catches cannot be guaranteed.

FUEL

Sun protection, hat, sunglasses, suitable non-slip footwear, personal medication, camera and any personal fly-fishing equipment. Confirm additional requirements before departure.
The Citation 900 measures approximately 30ft (9m) and is powered by twin Suzuki 200hp four-stroke outboards.
Fishing equipment includes dual Garmin displays, a 3kW Airmar transducer, outriggers, downrigger, live well, tuna tubes and an electric reel for deep-water fishing.
Choose Your Zanzibar Fishing Trip
From nearshore action to a remote offshore expedition
Half Day, Full Day or Latham Island
Half Day – about 4 hours: morning departure around 06:00 or afternoon around 13:00, fishing reefs and drop-offs near Michamvi. US$750 per boat.
Full Day – about 8 hours: departure around 06:00, fishing further south towards the Kizimkazi patch and working multiple locations. US$1,000 per boat.
Latham Island – about 12 hours: departure around 05:00 to a remote island and reef approximately 40 nautical miles offshore. Passage is estimated at 1.5–2.5 hours each way and is weather dependent. US$2,000 per boat.

WELCOME ABOARD
Meet your captain and English-speaking fishing guide at Michamvi Pingwe and board your private 30ft sport fishing boat. Your crew will brief you on the plan and equipment.
Head Offshore
Head towards the fishing grounds selected for the trip, sea conditions and target species. The guide prepares tackle and chooses the fishing techniques for the day.
Start Fishing
Try trolling, popping, jigging, bait fishing or deep dropping, depending on conditions and experience. Full-day trips can reach the Kizimkazi patch; Latham Island is a separate offshore option.
Follow the Fish
Take a break in the shaded helm area or forward cabin. Half-day trips include drinks and snacks; full-day trips include food and drinks.
Return to Michamvi Pingwe
Return to Michamvi Pingwe at the end of your selected trip. The operator practices selective catch and release, with eligible table fish potentially retained under its policy.
Fishing Species, Techniques & Conservation
Depending on season and conditions, target species can include yellowfin tuna, wahoo, king mackerel, dorado, giant trevally and other trevally. Techniques include trolling, popping, jigging, bait fishing and deep dropping. Night swordfishing may be arranged on request.
The operator releases billfish, sharks, rays, trevally and reef fish. Table species such as tuna and dorado may be kept. The crew may bring released fish alongside for a quick photograph before returning them to the water.
Fishing is possible throughout the year, with seasonal variations. June–September is the long dry season; October–December includes short rains; January–February is a short dry season suitable for considering Latham Island; March–May is the long-rains period. Conditions determine each departure.
